About Su
Like many practitioners, I came to this work as part of my own healing, navigating challenges that have ultimately deepened my practice. Such experiences nourish my ability to hold space for others in a authentic, practical and heart-centered way. I think my strengths lie not only in technical skills, but in attentive listening and a sincere curiosity in each person.
Before Taproot Healing, I worked 12 years with school age children in the arts. Those years laid the ground for my healing practice. I followed my interests in tai chi, qi gong and traditional Chinese medicine and discovered shiatsu. I eventually incorporated my love of herbs and studied formally. I’ve since found shiatsu and herbal therapies to be quite the dynamic duo of healing! I’ve continued to love teaching and consider education a vital part of my work with clients and the broader community. I intend my practice to be a welcoming space. I really do enjoy working with all kinds of people - those of various sizes, ability, gender identification, sexual orientation, race, income and age, including children. I look forward to seeing you there! If you’d like to know more about my credentials, training and affiliations, go here. |

"My life is completely different because I see Su regularly. The shiatsu treatments, herbs and Su’s thoughtfulness keep me paying attention to my health and my body. I am sick far less often than I used to be, and I have an awareness of my body that I would not have without Su’s lovely attention. She is thorough and gives kind, expert advice - she clearly knows her practice. She’s incredibly smart about bodies and about paying attention to particularly what your body needs. She is a godsend in my life."
-- Jenny "I have been going to Su for shiatsu for over 4 years and wouldn't go to anyone else! She is an expert in shiatsu and is able to target and treat specific issues for me time and time again. I find that I am able to re-center myself after my shiatsu sessions and find going to Su an important part of my routine. Moreover, Su is incredibly kind and thoughtful. I've referred friends and patients to her and will continue to do so!” -- Jaimie "I came to Su to improve a skin irritation issue. She so openly and actively listened to my concerns that I was encouraged to share some stories about my past and current personal life. She has provided me a personalized tincture mix, shiatsu massage and many tips on how to take care of my body. Su taught me how crucial it is for me to take care of my emotional conditions and encouraged me to keep myself expressive through music and art. My red and itchy skin has improved immensely since the first session, and now I rarely feel the irritation." -- Kokoro "Su elderberry syrup has the best taste of any I've tried, by far. I really feel an improvement in my health when I take it regularly. It definitely shortens the duration of a cold and helps my immune system bounce back." -- Charis "I've been going to Su for 8 years. She seems to intuitively know where I have blockages in my body and how to gently assist in opening up the "flow", which is good since I'm bad about explaining what is going on with me sometimes. She has also provided herbal consults that I still follow years latter. The whole experience—from the minute I enter until I leave—is relaxing, inviting and unrushed. Superb!" -- Brooks "I always look forward to the evenings when I have shiatsu scheduled with Su. She has a holistic approach, taking time beforehand to talk with me about my life and what's going on with my body, emotions, and energy levels. In a very gentle and respective manner, Su will make suggestions about dietary and other changes that might also help with whatever physical and emotional issues I'm having. The shiatsu itself is wonderful! And I leave with a deep sense of calm and well-being. Not only does my body feel more open and relaxed, but I have the most amazing night of deep and restful sleep afterward." -- Phyllis |
