A bit about me...
Like many practitioners I came to this work as part of my own healing, in navigating challenges that have ultimately deepened my practice. Those experiences nourished my ability to hold space for others in a authentic, practical and heart-centered way. I think my strengths lie not only in the skills of my craft but also in the practice of attentive listening and a sincere caring for each person who comes through the door.
Before Taproot Healing, I worked 12 years with school age children in the arts. Those years laid the ground for my healing practice. I followed my interests in tai chi, qi gong and traditional Chinese medicine and became an AOBTA certified shiatsu practitioner. My love of plants guided me to studied herbal medicine formally and I eventually incorporated this into my practice. I've since found shiatsu and herbal therapies to be wonderfully complementary practices. I continued to enjoy teaching and consider client and community education a vital part of my work.
I strive for my practice to be a welcoming space for all kinds of folks - those of various gender identification, sexual orientation, race, income status, size, ability and age, including children. I welcome any questions and truly look forward to working with you!
"My life is completely different because I see Su regularly. The shiatsu treatments, herbs and Su’s thoughtfulness keep me paying attention to my health and my body. I am sick far less often than I used to be, and I have an awareness of my body that I would not have without Su’s lovely attention. She is thorough and gives kind, expert advice - she clearly knows her practice. She’s incredibly smart about bodies and about paying attention to particularly what your body needs. She is a godsend in my life."
"I have been going to Su for shiatsu for over 4 years and wouldn't go to anyone else! She is an expert in shiatsu and is able to target and treat specific issues for me time and time again. I find that I am able to re-center myself after my shiatsu sessions and find going to Su an important part of my routine. Moreover, Su is incredibly kind and thoughtful. I've referred friends and patients to her and will continue to do so!”
"I came to Su to improve a skin irritation issue. She so openly and actively listened to my concerns that I was encouraged to share some stories about my past and current personal life. She has provided me a personalized tincture mix, shiatsu massage and many tips on how to take care of my body. Su taught me how crucial it is for me to take care of my emotional conditions and encouraged me to keep myself expressive through music and art. My red and itchy skin has improved immensely since the first session, and now I rarely feel the irritation."
"Su elderberry syrup has the best taste of any I've tried, by far. I really feel an improvement in my health when I take it regularly. It definitely shortens the duration of a cold and helps my immune system bounce back."
"I've been going to Su for 8 years. She seems to intuitively know where I have blockages in my body and how to gently assist in opening up the "flow", which is good since I'm bad about explaining what is going on with me sometimes. She has also provided herbal consults that I still follow years latter. The whole experience—from the minute I enter until I leave—is relaxing, inviting and unrushed. Superb!"
